A number of improvements are to be carried out at a car park in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire.
The project will see an increase in the number of spaces available at the site, as well as the creation of a dedicated motorcycle area. Resurfacing will also be carried out.
The local authority has said the number of spaces will increase from 62 to 74, with existing obstructions and vegetation being removed, while the whole car park will be resurfaced as part of a programme to support the next phase of Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE).
Work on the project started this week and is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Councillor Vaughan Moody, Vice Convener of Development and Regeneration, said: "We are doing all we can to keep inconvenience to a minimum, but there will be disruption during the works to improve the car park.
"The new, improved car park will be an excellent addition to the town centre – making it easier for shoppers to access the great range of retail outlets, hostelries and businesses in Milngavie.
"We are confident the short-term pain will be more than outweighed by the long-term gain of having more spaces and a resurfaced car park.
"I am delighted the work will be completed before the busy pre-Christmas period and that people take the opportunity to shop, eat and drink locally."
