The SPIE Group has confirmed its acquisition of Scotshield Fire & Security.
In a statement, the group said the move will enable it to develop its expertise in Intelligent Buildings. It is a new market for the firm, but it will also simultaneously build on its existing portfolio.
Established in Scotland in 1998, Scotshield provides fire detection, security alarms, access control and CCTV systems, with its services including design, supply, installation, integration, service to maintenance with long-term maintenance and framework contracts. On average, the company manages some 200 concurrent installation projects and covers 8,000 sites with service and maintenance contracts.
Under its new arrangement with SPIE UK, Scotshield will be able to expand its service offering by increased investment and market knowledge.
James Thoden van Velzen, CEO of SPIE UK, said: "This acquisition is an excellent opportunity for both companies to develop their businesses and reach new customer bases across the UK. With limited client overlap, there are numerous opportunities for cross-selling our services. Scotshield is already well established in the northern part of the UK and has demonstrated consistent growth there.
"By bringing it into the SPIE portfolio, we are developing our Scottish business, taking on new technologies and a lead position in the local market. Similarly, Scotshield's range of solutions has a strong synergy with our own and is therefore a strong fit for existing clients across the rest of the UK, many of whom will be interested in the new services we have to offer."
