Morrisons has confirmed it has dropped its plans to build a new store in Aberdeen.
The supermarket chain had received planning permission from Aberdeen City Council in 2012 to construct a new premises on the site of the former Summerhill Academy.
The proposals included a supermarket, café and petrol station.
Around 330 new jobs were expected to be created by the project, but in a statement the company said it had made the "difficult decision" to withdraw its application.
It explained: "Regrettably we have decided to withdraw from the agreement with Aberdeen City Council to develop the Lang Stracht site.
"This has been a difficult decision for us after the level of investment and time we have committed to the site so far. However, we believe that it is better for the local community that we withdraw from the process at this point and allow the site to be developed for an alternative use."
Aberdeen City Council said it was disappointed by the decision and would now undertake a review of the site.
