An initiative to install solar PV 70kW of panels on buildings around West Lothian is continuing to progress well, the local authority has said.
To date, 300 panels have been installed at Springfield Primary School in Linlithgow, West Lothian Civic Centre, the Sutherland Building at Beecraigs Country Park and Whitburn Academy.
Some £130,000 has been invested in the project so far.
At Springfield Primary School, more energy has already been generated than the average home would require in a year. The Council has said the next planned installation will be at Linlithgow Academy and it is thought the total revenue savings for the school, once the scheme is in operation, will be more than £6,000 a year.
With more than 70kW of solar PV installed on its buildings, West Lothian Council has said it plans to expand on this over the next 12 to 18 months.
Tom Conn, Executive Councillor for the Environment, said: "It is great news that the programme of installing solar panels is progressing and already delivering energy and carbon savings. It is also fantastic that the solar panels are being installed by the council's own qualified team."
