A housing development for older people has won two awards at this year's Scottish Home Awards.
The state-of-the-art development, known as St Beya's Gardens, is located in Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae. It was named as Rural Development of the Year, as well as Senior Living Development of the Year at this year's awards ceremony, held in Edinburgh.
The £2.3m project consists of 12 amenity bungalows for older people, including one specifically designed for wheelchair users. The development is eco-friendly and has helped it to achieve the Scottish Building Standards 'Silver Active' Award for sustainability and energy efficiency.
Councillor Ruth Maguire, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "St Beya's Gardens receiving prestigious national recognition reflects the extremely high standards North Ayrshire's Housing team have delivered.
"Judges commented on the exemplar energy efficient design and interesting interiors of these wonderful homes for our older people in Millport.
|The housing team should feel very proud of the excellent homes they have built and of the wider reaching benefits as, moving forward,we use the development as a blueprint for quality older people's housing throughout North Ayrshire."
