Clackmannan Primary School pupils have shown their commitment to the environment by gaining an impressive third Green Flag from Eco Schools Scotland.
They were awarded with their first Green Flag in 2009 which was followed by a second in 2011 and their continuing efforts have now been rewarded with a third flag.
The Eco Schools assessor was able to see that the children have been working hard on a wide variety of ecology projects, including focussing on recycling within the school, from compost, fruit waste, milk cartons, paper and litter picking in the playground.
Working along with the Parent Council, a new sensory garden has been installed in the school grounds. Every part of Clackmannan Primary took part in the project, which saw the installation of a storytelling chair, seating, totem pole, wigwam, wildlife houses and mosaic stepping stones. A range of shrubs, flowers, herbs and vegetables have been planted in the garden.
The school also took part in the Bikeability project, teaching the children how to maintain their bikes, explaining road safety and helping them to have confidence in riding their bikes as part of the course.
