Morrison Construction has won two awards for its considerate approach to two projects for Orkney Islands Council, it has been reported.
The firm was awarded a silver Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Award for its work on the Kirkwall Grammar School, plus a bronze award for its input at the Pickaquoy Centre. Both of these projects were part of a wider £57m Orkney Schools Investment Programme.
The awards were decided by the independently-assessed Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), which recognises construction teams that demonstrate high standards of consideration towards their neighbours, workforce, general public and environment.
Morrison Construction said its team behind the grammar school were "delighted" when they were awarded a score of 42 out of 50 for its performance. It is the second consecutive CCS Silver Award for the team, while the Pickaquoy team came away with a bronze award and again were praised for their exceptional community relations and positive site image.
Commenting on the company's achievements, Morrison Construction's Regional Director Donald McLachlan, said: "These awards are a fantastic achievement for the teams involved in the two sites and reflect the hard work and commitment we put into our CCS responsibility. Well done to everyone involved."
