A project to increase the security of water supply in Dunbar, East Lothian, has been completed by Scottish Water.
Commencing in January 2013, the work was carried out by MWH-GLL partnership. The £1.6m scheme will increase the amount of water that can be stored in the town by up to six times.
For residents in Dunbar, drinking water is fed to service reservoirs, where it is stored securely before being piped towards the homes of customers.
Welcoming the completion of the work, Bill Elliot, Scottish Water's Community Team Manager for East Lothian, said: "One of the challenges Scottish Water has is to ensure our infrastructure is increasingly resilient and responsive to the needs of communities. Dunbar has seen a great deal of expansion in recent years and Scottish Water has acted to ensure that extra water resources are available, to ensure we can continue to supply all our customers with the best possible drinking water and service now – and well into the future."
Local Councillor Paul McLennan added: "I am delighted that the new service reservoir has now been completed. This is a significant investment by Scottish Water recognising the growth in the community."
