A public consultation has been launched regarding the future development of the Countesswells area in Aberdeen.
On Wednesday, the local authority said it had put the Countesswells Development Framework and Phase One Masterplan out to consultation.
The site in question is located between Bieldside, Kingswells, Hazlehead woods and Foggieton and Countesswells woods, and plans could see 3,000 houses constructed as well as 10-hectares of employment land.
One secondary school and two primary schools are also proposed.
The Framework and Masterplan aim to create a new settlement in an attractive, well-contained landscape setting and the proposed development would deliver a mixed-use community complete with supporting infrastructure.
The area earmarked for the development presents a unique opportunity for the creation of a new place with its own character and identity. It is different from other developments in the city, which predominantly represent the expansion of existing large communities.
