A programme of works on the rock faces above the A82 has started, BEAR Scotland NW has said.
The works, which commenced today (10 March), will last for up to 12 weeks and will begin at Loch Ness.
At the site, about 4.5km north of Alltsigh, initial de-vegetation works as well as an inspection of the rock slope was completed in January. A design plan was then progressed and a specialist contractor was appointed to remove loose rock, install rock dowels and secure around 10,000m2 of rockfall netting.
This latest phase of the scheme will continue with the rock fall protection works.
Explaining the works, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Unit Representative, said: "This section of the A82 is a particularly important route for both locals and tourists. These works will lead to a safer section of road where the likelihood of delays caused by rockfalls will be reduced."
