Wishaw's East Cross is to close for six days to allow work on Phase Two of the town centre streetscape works to continue.
The closure will be in place from Saturday 15 February and will allow Scottish Water to be installed, as well as other necessary underground works to be completed.
The Cross will close at 6am on Saturday, and reopen by midnight on Thursday 20 February.
For the duration of the works, traffic diversions will be in place.
The streetscape project will focus on Stewarton Street, East Cross, Caledonian Road, Kirk Road, Lower Main Street and the West Cross. It involves creating wider pavements, parking bays, new street furniture and lighting, removing the high step between the road and pavements, and resurfacing the road. It will also remove barriers to people with mobility issues, increase lighting levels which will improve community safety, and replace the damaged roadway and footpaths.
Councillor James Coyle, Convener of the Planning and Transportation Committee, said: "During the Phase 2 project we want to keep road closures to a minimum, so we have carefully planned the work schedule with our contractor MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd to minimise the disruption.
"When we have to close the East Cross, this will only be for short periods at a time with MacLays working over weekends to progress the work as quickly as possible.
"Businesses affected by this closure have been contacted and, where possible, arrangements made to accommodate their needs. Staff at our project office at 232 Main Street and MacLays Liaison Officer George Wright are available to answer any questions from businesses and residents."
