Preparations are set to get underway as Phase Two of the Kessock Bridge improvement scheme begins next month.
The preparations will involve temporary night-time lane closures on 31 January and 1 February, BEAR Scotland has said, and will involve structural investigation in advance of the main phased works. A contraflow system will be in operation from 7pm to 7am to allow this to happen safely.
In addition, the northbound footpath/cycleway will remain closed during this period to allow for the on-going scaffolding to be installed beneath the bridge deck.
Diversion routes will be in place for both cyclists and pedestrians.
The second phase of the £13.2m Kessock Bridge scheme is scheduled to begin on 10 February 2014 and works will last for 20 weeks. During this time, a contraflow system will be in place on the northbound carriageway, as well as a reduced speed limit.
Commenting on the preparatory works, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland Operating Company Representative for the North West, said: "Our preparation works will continue this coming weekend and will require lane closures during the evening.
"A contraflow will be in place and the northbound footpath and cycleway will remain closed with diversions in place.
"As always, we are grateful for the patience of the travelling public and ask them to plan ahead, especially when phase two of these major works get underway on 10 February."
