Work is to commence on improving waste water infrastructure in the Fox Street area of Greenock.
The work will also tackle a flooding issue at properties in the area, Scottish Water has said.
Commencing on Thursday 30 January, the improvement work will help address the issue of internal flooding which has affected three properties in the area.
The project will cost around 350,000 to complete and will be carried out over a period of six weeks. During this time, two new Alternative Pumped Non-Return valves (APNRV) will be installed on a sewer within two new chambers in the street. The new infrastructure will prevent flooding from the main sewer in storm conditions when the system has reached its maximum designed capacity while discharging flows from the affected properties.
The work is scheduled to be carried out in three phases, one for each chamber and APNRV installation and one to install a control cabinet (electrical kiosk) and to lay the power duct.
TLC Installation will be undertaking the work on behalf of Scottish Water.
Mark Maclaren, Scottish Water's Regional Communities Team Manager, said: "We are delighted to be starting this important project which will provide significant improvements in our waste water system in the area.
"We will do everything possible to minimise any inconvenience to customers and road-users in the area and, when we have completed our work, the area will be reinstated to its original condition."
