Five new homes have been officially opened in Kirriemuir, Angus.
The two-bedroom terraced homes and three-bedroom semi-detached homes were built on land previously supporting three blocks of council flats.
The council was awarded funding of £170,000 from the Scottish Government towards the overall project cost of £800,000. The new homes incorporate sprinklers and very high levels of insulation, which will help increase home safety and help combat fuel poverty.
The housing development also forms part of Angus Council's ambitious building programme to provide 147 new council houses, which will help reduce the housing waiting list, and meet the council's vision of building quality affordable and energy efficient homes for rent in areas of highest need across Angus.
Council Leader, Councillor Iain Gaul, officially opened the new homes.
He said: "I am delighted to see the completion of this new development of high quality affordable homes on this site. Making use of brownfield sites for housing is important for the council as it helps to improve the area and also provides much needed affordable homes for residents in the county."
Councillor Jeanette Gaul added: "I am delighted to see the completion of these new build family homes in Kirriemuir. Kirriemuir has a high demand for council housing and these houses, like all of our housing developments, have been built with energy efficiency to the fore and to a high standard of construction and finish. This makes these much needed new family homes both desirable and affordable properties for families to live in."
