A £1.1m heritage project is underway to restore and regenerate Kirriemuir's historic town centre.
Earlier this week, the Kirriemuir Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) steering group met where they were updated on the transformation of Glengate Hall into affordable housing. There was also mention of some local interest in the former Airlie Arms hotel in St Malcolm's Wynd.
The CARS scheme focuses on improving the historic buildings in the heart of the Scottish burgh and bringing them back into use. The scheme was launched in 2013 as a five-year project to fund improvements to specific properties in the town's conservation area which are prominent or of architectural or historic interest and are currently either vacant or partially vacant.
Small grants are also available to property owners for shop front improvements and other external repairs to the public elevations including repairs to historic features such as rainwater goods, windows and stonework.
Funds available can cover up to 85% of eligible works to a maximum grant of £20,000.
The £1.1 million budget was provided by Angus Council and Historic Scotland.
