Further work is to be carried out on the two flyovers which were lifted into place on the A77 earlier this month.
The £10.6m Symington and Bogend Toll scheme will now see contractor R J McLeod fit the remaining bridge parapets to the end of the flyovers before pouring the concrete bridge deck.
Once this is completed, the improvements will see the central reservations between Spittal Interchange and Dutch House roundabout closed, with the two new flyover bridges opening. This will remove the need for right hand turns on the busy stretch of road.
In order to allow the work to be carried out, one lane of the southbound A77 will close at 9.30am on Wednesday 30 October until 3.30pm on Thursday 31 October to allow the parapets to be fitted. Then, on Friday 1 November from 9.30am until Saturday 2 November at 3.30pm, one lane of the northbound carriageway will close. Speed limits will be in place.
Ruairidh Campbell, Project Manager at Transport Scotland, said: "Work on this scheme is progressing apace and road users can now see the progress with the two flyovers which were lifted into place recently over the A77. This next phase of work will see further work carried out on the remaining bridge parapets before pouring the concrete deck of both flyovers.
"We have planned these lane closures carefully to minimise the impact on the local community and travelling public but some delays are inevitable.
"We advise motorists to plan their journeys in advance using all the available journey planning tools. We thank drivers for their patience during this period."
