The BBC has reported that police in Scotland are appealing for information after thieves targeted a Peter Pan-themed development in Dumfries.
Moat Brae House is currently undergoing an ambitious renovation project to turn the property into a national centre for children's literature.
At some stage overnight, between Tuesday and Wednesday, lead flashing valued at around £2,000 was taken from the roof of the house.
Earlier this month, the restoration work reached a critical stage when three central roof beams were lowered onto the house and will make the 1823 Walter Newall-designed house safe, wind and watertight.
The house is where the author of Peter Pan, JM Barrie, played as a child.
Works on the first phase of the project are continuing, while architects are said to be currently working on the second phase which includes visitor facilities and developing land behind the house.
Anyone who was in the area around the time of the alleged theft and saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
