A scheme to improve the infrastructure of pedestrian and cycling routes across Aberdeen has officially been opened.
Work on the Greenbrae Cycle Project began in 2011 and links Greenbrae School, housing developments and the nearby industrial estate.
Throughout the area, pavements have been converted to shared use to cater for less confident cyclists, while signage has been installed to direct cyclists to recommended on-road routes and useful shortcuts.
Councillor Milne, Vice Convener of Aberdeen City Council's Enterprise, Infrastructure and Planning Committee, said: "I'm delighted that Nestrans and the council have been able to provide this safe cycle route. I hope the residents of Bridge of Don will take the opportunity to use the facility and I encourage the children, young people and residents of all ages to get on their bikes.
"The creation of the Greenbrae Cycle Path is also a boon to those working in the Dubford industrial estate and hopefully it will help to reduce traffic on the roads."
The project has been funded largely by Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership, with an additional grant from sustainable transport charity Sustrans Scotland.
