Falkirk residents are being encouraged to get involved in plans to finalise a new five-year management plan for the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site.
The World Heritage Site includes a number of towns across the Falkirk area, including Bo'ness, Laurieston, Camelon, Bonnybridge and Allandale.
A 12-week consultation on its future has been launched by Historic Scotland and the five local authorities along the Wall. The consultation follows a series of stakeholder workshops and public sessions at the end of last year.
The Draft Management Plan sets out the vision and key objectives for the management, conservation, promotion and interpretation of the Wall over the next five years.
The Antonine Wall became part of the transnational Frontiers of the Roman Empire World Heritage Site in 2008. The site also includes Hadrian's Wall in England and the German Limes.
Since its recognition as a World Heritage Site, significant progress has been made to protect and promote the Wall and the new plan aims to build on that success.
Speaking about the plans, Councillor Adrian Mahoney, Falkirk Council’s Convener of Leisure, Tourism and Community said: "Local people attended stakeholder and public workshops late last year. Their comments helped inform the draft plan. We are now seeking a thorough and constructive debate on the document to ensure the communities along the Wall can play their part in shaping the final plan which will be launched later this year."
The public consultation will close on 28 June 2013.
