Work on the Heritage and Learning Centre in the east end of Glasgow is nearing completion.
Thenue Housing has announced the £1m centre will be ready in the spring.
£823,000 was obtained from the Big Lottery Fund last year. Glasgow City Council added another £100,000 to that total.
The new Centre will be built on London Road, next to Thenue Housing’s new homes and office, which were opened by the Lord Provost last year.
The Calton facility will also display information on the history of the area, including vintage pictures from its industrial past.
Betty Cosgrove, chair of the Calton Area Association, said: "This is a momentous day for Calton as we see the new Heritage and Learning Centre begin to take shape. Local people are looking forward to its completion and the great contribution it will make to our area. We are very grateful for the funding from the Big Lottery and Glasgow City Council which is making all this possible."
Lawrence McCabe, community regeneration manager at Thenue, said: "The Centre is nearing completion after several months of construction. When it opens its doors it will provide a vital and much-welcomed community hub - something that Calton has been campaigning for over many years. We’re delighted that working with Calton Area Association and others we have been able to obtain funding that makes this a reality."
