A trio of firms has been announced to carry out refurbishment works at Glasgow’s Ibrox station.
Graham Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine and Clancy Docwra have been appointed by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) to carry out the works.
The £100m Station Refurbishment Programme will aim to create a clean, efficient, modern and passenger-friendly environment at the stations.
The modernisation of the subway, which will include the installation of public art, will focus on improving the customer experience and creating a refreshing atmosphere.
The refurbishment will include the replacement of materials to floors, walls and ceilings throughout the stations.
Work will also include the improvement of wayfinding, information and general signage for passengers. Signing, branding and passenger facilities will be upgraded, while visibility will be increased through the use of more efficient lighting.
A range of DDA enhancements will also be carried out, along with new station offices, in order to make optimum use of space.
Space which is being under-used will be adapted for potential retail facilities.
The work at Ibrox station is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013.
