Planning has been submitted for a new hotel and urban resort development in the north of Edinburgh.
The new £20m facility will include a 120-bedroom hotel, a health and fitness club, business and conference facilities and food and drink uses.
Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners (NLP) submitted the planning on behalf of De Vere Village Hotels & Leisure Ltd.
The development has been designed by 3D Reid and will be built on a regenerated site at Crewe Toll Roundabout in north Edinburgh. The resort will replace a redundant office building.
Ian Kettlewell, NLP Associate Director, said: "This exciting new development will regenerate an important and prominent site; removing a redundant office building which has been lying vacant for years.
"The jobs created will be accessible to local residents, offering significant training opportunities and providing a boost to the local economy, as well as many further jobs during the construction phase."
Robert Cook, chief executive of De Vere Village Urban Resorts, said the proposals for the hotel were submitted to city planning leaders last week. He said the plans had been backed by the majority of local residents, adding: "We are delighted to see that our plans have received such positive feedback.
"Edinburgh is a high-priority location for us and we are very excited to be bringing our flagship Village Urban Resort concept to Scotland’s capital city."
