A popular South Glasgow area is to get a £3.3m cash injection to improve public spaces and buildings.
Shawlands, one of the most popular places for young professionals to live according to Bank of Scotland research, will benefit from a town centre action plan over the next five years.
The funding was approved by Glasgow City Council's Executive Committee.
In a council statement, a spokesman said: "Shawlands town centre is a key part of South Glasgow, supporting a community of over 21,000 people. It is a shopping and leisure destination for many, with a vibrant selection of bars, restaurants, specialist shops and the biggest concentration of legal and financial services in the south side of the city."
The move follows a 2009 public consultation on area improvements alongside discussion with Shawlands businesses and a meeting in February this year where more than 100 people met to discuss the neighbourhood's council.
The spokesman said: "This document will be used as a tool in efforts to ensure that Shawlands continues to be a place where people choose to live and invest and addresses ways in which the town centre can be positioned and/or re-positioned to become a successful, thriving destination."
The Plan recommends improvements to place management, public spaces, streets, buildings and the role of business and customers in making Shawlands more successful.
Bailie Liz Cameron of Glasgow City Council, said: "I believe this action plan marks the beginning of a very exciting period for Shawlands."
