Work has begun on the £250,000 refurbishment of Clyde Square in Greenock.
Paving slabs will be replaced by high quality materials to tie-in with the new £2 million Customer Service Centre in the Municipal Buildings and landscaped areas will be improved.
Pedestrian access will be limited while the works are carried out with access from Cathcart Square to the Oak Mall via the Municipal Buildings Carriageway or the covered area adjacent to the shops beneath the Central Library.
A section of William Street will be closed to pedestrians and traffic for site office accommodation and materials for the duration of the works which are due to finish in late May.
Inverclyde Council’s new Customer Service Centre is situated in the ground floor of the Municipal Buildings in Clyde Square which is being converted into a one-stop-shop for customers. Contractors have retained the historic façade, installing structural glazing between the decorative pillars to create an enclosed space for staff and customers.
Staff will transfer from their current temporary location in Wallace Place to the new premises when the refurbishment of Clyde Square is completed. In the interim customers are still invited to attend the Customer Service Centre in Wallace Place for any Council service requests, queries or questions.
