The University of Aberdeen's new £57m library is set to open for business today.
Construction began back in August 2009, and the building will replace the university's aging Queen Mother Library.
While it will be open and its services available to the local community as well as students from today onwards, it will not be officially opened until next year.
The library will house collections of historically-important books and archives.
Vice-principal and academic lead for the library project, Christopher Gane, said: "The new library will provide the very best learning and research environment for the university, and a fitting home for our historic library and archival collections.
"It will make a stunning addition to the architecture of Aberdeen, and indeed has been designed to the highest architectural standards."
