New Homes for mid market rent could be provided in Dundee if councillors back participation in the second round of a new national scheme.
Last year Dundee City Council agreed to take part in the first round of the Scottish Government's National Housing Trust (NHT) Initiative, which has already seen agreement reached to build 16 flats in Broughty Ferry.
Now the housing committee will be asked to give the green light to a second project that will provide more choice for people looking to rent a house in the mid-market price range.
Committee convener Jimmy Black said: "I welcome any initiative that brings a greater choice of rental housing to the market for people who currently might not want to be owner occupiers.
"Some of them might be occupying council houses but would jump at the chance of getting quality energy efficiency house at a mid-market rent."
Dundee City Council has already agreed to the first phase of the private sector/public sector partnership that has seen a bid accepted from Ferrier Homes for 16 two bedroom homes at East Links Place. These will be developed subject to necessary planning permission.
