A team from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Scotland has claimed the Silver Salver at the latest annual golf tournament against the Edinburgh Association of the Scottish Building Federation, held at the Royal Burgess Golf Club in the Barnton area of Edinburgh on Friday the 10th September.
Playing ‘four ball better ball’, the eight-strong RICS team secured a convincing win of four matches to zero, bringing to an end a run of three consecutive years in which the Scottish Building Federation team has held the Silver Salver.
Conditions for the tournament were challenging with heavy rain in the morning, although this gave way to pleasant sunshine later in the day.
RICS team captain Gordon Adam of CBA Chartered Quantity Surveyors said: “I’m delighted that the RICS team achieved such a convincing win this year. Despite the winning margin, as always, the Federation were tough opponents and we fought hard for every point.”
Allan Dundas, President of the Edinburgh Association of the Scottish Building Federation, said: “We’re obviously disappointed to have lost this year. But the Royal Burgess course was in fantastic condition and it was a great day’s golf. RICS proved themselves to be worthy winners. We’ll look forward to trying to win the Salver back next year.”
