Dunoon residents, businesses and visitors are being urged to take part in a new survey on the town and its future.
The initiative is being undertaken as part of the Council’s £30m CHORD programme to regenerate the waterfronts of five key towns – Campbeltown, Helensburgh, Oban, Rothesay and Dunoon.
The proposal for Dunoon involves redevelopment of the Waterfront area to create a vibrant and attractive setting for residents and visitors to the town.
The survey, which is happening in each of the towns, will involve postal correspondence, in-street interviews and telephone calls aimed at gathering the views of the widest possible group of individuals.
A postal survey will be sent to a sample of residents on May 14, with people being given three weeks to respond.
Responses are being collected in pre-paid envelopes by specialist research company EKOS, which will then report to the council on the main findings.
Businesses will also be contacted by EKOS over the next few weeks and asked to participate in a 20 minute telephone survey.
All responses are confidential and no information on individual responses, or details of respondents, will be passed on.
An in-street survey is also planned for June 12. This will be targeted at visitors to the town who will be asked by interviewers about their views and perceptions of Dunoon.
Councillor Bruce Marshall, Chair of the Dunoon CHORD Project Board, urged all those contacted to take part.
“It is vital to the overall success of Dunoon’s CHORD programme that it takes into account the views of those most affected by it – the town’s residents, visitors and businesses,” he added.
“All responses will remain completely confidential, and no information on individual responses, or details of respondents, will be passed to the Council or any third party.
“The results of the survey will be written into a report of key findings, which will be submitted to the council at a later date.”
