An employability partnership led by North Lanarkshire Council, North Lanarkshire's Working, has seen further success.
The companies working with North Lanarkshire's Working have been able to access job-ready individuals who have already been interviewed and, if necessary, trained to meet the company's requirements.
Companies recruiting through the initiative have the wages of any individuals they employ subsidized for the first few months and receive support to overcome any teething problems while the new recruits settle in.
North Lanarkshire's Working makes the recruitment process simpler by selecting applicants who are keen to get back to work and already have some of the skills the business requires. The team can also provide tailored training programmes.
Clyde Valley Housing Association, a Motherwell-based Registered Social Landlord, teamed up with North Lanarkshire’s Working to create Xtra Hands, a programme for local school-leavers offering six-month paid work placements with the Association and its contractors.
North Lanarkshire’s Working’s Employer Engagement Team helped to recruit more than 80 young people to work in areas including administration, labouring and construction.
Corporate Services Manager Nareen Owens said: "We've had overwhelmingly positive feedback from our contractors, many of whom are keen to find permanent positions for the participants once their six-month placement is over.
"Our partnership with North Lanarkshire’s Working has been a revelation for us. The support we've received has been fantastic…and they've been able to provide invaluable advice."
Over 100 businesses in the area have already taken advantage. Don't miss out – with our help, finding the right employee can be a lot easier than you think.
