A total of £47,000 is being invested in a new path and bridge in Craigmill Den in Carnoustie.
Angus Council's Infrastructure Services Committee approved the work to the path, which will be an important link in the emerging Carnoustie path network.
Commenting on the investment committee vice-convener David Fairweather said: "The path through Craigmill Den is a popular route for walkers and cyclists so we're going to resurface and where possible widen the path to improve access. A new footbridge will also be installed to replace the existing one.
"Once upgraded the Craigmill Den path will be a much more attractive and accessible part of the burgh's growing path network which will hopefully encourage even more people to get out and enjoy their local surroundings."
The £47,000 investment at Craigmill Den, which is subject to legal agreements being concluded with the landowner, is part of a £77,000 package of works to local paths. The package includes £10,000 for signage and promotion of the Monifieth path network and £20,000 for a new timber and metal footbridge at Glen Damff, linking the Cateran Trail in Glen Isla with Glen Prosen.
