Edinburgh’s Insurepair Launches Major International Expansion into Spain

Construction News Image

Insurepair, one of Scotland's leading all trades insurance reinstatement companies, is expanding into Spain as part of a major international growth plan.

The new division of the Edinburgh-based firm will be called Insurepair Spain and will initially support the thousands of UK property owners, landlords and property managers across the Costa Calida region in the province of Murcia.

A bilingual team including surveyors, claims managers and trades has been established in the Mar Menor area, with the new business providing property inspections, insurance repair documentation and full reinstatement services delivered by a dedicated local workforce operating under the Insurepair brand.

All back-office infrastructure will be based at the Edinburgh office, which will take the enquiries and book in the surveys to ensure a streamlined operation. From initial instruction through to completion, every stage of the process will be managed to ensure consistency, control and clear communication throughout.

The model mirrors Insurepair's UK operations, where the business works closely with insurers and loss adjusters to deliver consistent, end-to-end claim solutions.

The initial operational base will be located around Mar Menor Golf Resort, with services extending across nearby resort communities including La Torre Golf Resort, Hacienda Riquelme, Condado de Alhama and surrounding areas of Costa Calida – all locations with a high concentration of British homeowners.

Formed 20 years ago, Insurepair has vast experience managing insurance-related repair projects and coordinating trades to return properties to their pre-loss condition.

The expansion into southern Spain will see this expertise applied to a market where many international homeowners require trusted support when problems arise while they are outside the country.

Insurepair managing director Richard O'Donnell said: "Through our work with insurers, loss adjusters and property professionals - and recognising the significant number of British and international-owned properties across regions such as the Costa Cálida - we identified a clear gap in the market for structured, insurance-led reinstatement services aligned with UK standards.

"Southern Spain contains large communities of international property owners, particularly from the United Kingdom. Many homes are used as holiday properties and remain unoccupied for extended periods during the year. When incidents such as burst pipes or water leaks occur, property owners often struggle to coordinate repairs remotely.

"We have earned a strong reputation for our work in the UK and we will now deliver the same structured approach, providing the same technical expertise and high standards to support property owners and insurers in managing and completing claims efficiently.

"Our professionals provide reliable repair and maintenance services that homeowners can rely on to help ensure properties remain safe, well maintained and ready for use. This is our biggest strategic move as a business in 20 years and we're excited to look after homes in Spain - wherever their owners may be."

Should this first phase of European expansion go well, potential future areas of coverage in Spain could include Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, where similar market conditions exist, while setting up similar services in other European countries is the ultimate aim.

"Focusing on Spain initially, we understand the importance of having a trusted, reliable team on the ground ready to assist property owners and insurers," added Mr O'Donnell.

"Insurepair Spain combines UK standards with local expertise, offering a structured, professional service that gives property owners confidence their homes are being properly maintained and restored.

"Over time the objective is to establish Insurepair as a trusted cross-border insurance reinstatement contractor supporting property owners and insurers across multiple European regions."
