Robertson Highland has secured £12m of construction work throughout the region.

The Inverness-based contractor has been selected to develop the new Migdale Hospital at Bonar Bridge under the NHS Frameworks Scotland agreement.

Work is planned to commence towards the end of 2009.

Robertson has started construction of a five-star 37 bedroom facility at the Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness, and will shortly start a project to build 18 new homes for Cairn Housing Association in Inverness.

The firm will also begin a refurbishment project to provide a retail unit and flatted accommodation in Inverness city centre for Monarch Properties.

In addition Robertson will undertake the second phase of the Linear Accelerator project at Raigmore Hospital later in the year.

The Specialist Works team will also start a number of projects including alterations of existing ward accommodation at New Craigs Hospital, Inverness.

Robertson is also currently active with projects for the Northern Constabulary in Inverness and bathroom replacements for Albyn Housing Society in Tain and a bespoke housing development for private clients within the North West Highlands.

Robertson Highland is one of seven regionalised Robertson construction companies which cover Northern, Eastern and Central Scotland, Tayside, Lothians and north-east England.

Raymond More, managing director, Robertson Highland said: "It is a very exciting time as we begin work on a number of projects throughout the area. Although the overall construction marketplace is facing challenging times we are working hard to secure some great opportunities.

"It is heartening to see the public and private sector has the confidence to undertake this level of work and invest in the local economy."
