Public opinion is being sought on the future of one of the country's best known tourist spots - John O'Groats.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has commissioned planning consultants GVA Grimley to produce a masterplan of how the visitor attraction could be developed, with a specific focus on commercial elements which might support the future success of the location.
As part of the process a public exhibition is to be held at the Seaview Hotel in John O'Groats on Tuesday [7 July] from noon until 8pm.
There will be information available on the process so far and possible options for its re-development. The project team working on the blueprint, including planning, energy and tourism experts, will be on hand to hear views and suggestions.
"It is important to the long-term economic future of the area that we identify a way forward for John O'Groats which is ambitious and meets the expectations of visitors. The local partnership of public bodies, businesses and community groups is working together to see the area fulfil its potential," said Carol Gunn, HIE.
The masterplan will provide a sustainable long term model and is likely to include retail outlets, food and drink venues and various levels of tourist accommodation. The recommendations are expected to be complete by August of this year.
Richard Slipper of GVA Grimley said: "We have already held a number of productive meetings with stakeholders with a direct interest in the redevelopment, including local businesses and Highland Council.
"Local consultation plays a major role in our planning process and the public and any other bodies coming along tomorrow will be able to make their comments count. We aim to produce a viable plan for HIE to take forward to implementation, but also a masterplan which works closely to the planning authority's statutory development plan."
