Momentum is building behind Moray’s £100m Growth Deal, with the latest annual report confirming that several flagship regeneration schemes will move into delivery over the coming year.
The report identifies 2025 as a pivotal year for preparing major developments, with 2026 marking a step change as construction activity accelerates and projects begin to take shape this year and beyond.
Significant headway has been made on the South Street project, which features new affordable homes and a Business Enterprise Hub. Site clearance and early works finished earlier this year, and construction is now under way with contractors Robertson on site.
Elgin's Cultural Quarter is also progressing, including work at Elgin Town Hall and Grant Lodge. Renovation at the Town Hall is well advanced, with structural steel erected for the new rear extension, while design work for Grant Lodge is at an advanced stage and planning applications have been submitted.
At the time of publication, the capital build for the Manufacturing and Innovation Centre Moray (MICM) was on schedule and has since been completed, with services commenced.
Council Leader, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said after the report's approval at Full Council: "After a period of planning and preparation, it is fantastic to see key regeneration projects move into delivery. Real and visible progress throughout Moray takes us closer to the creation of new and meaningful opportunities for residents and businesses in the area."
While progress continues, the report acknowledges the complexity of some schemes. Work with partners is ongoing to manage potential challenges and keep projects on track.
