WMR Contractors has announced more than £2 million of new work across Scotland, signalling a strong phase of growth spanning heritage, education and commercial markets. The wins follow a record period of activity and underscore the company's range, from complex retail environments and sensitive academic refurbishments to bespoke private developments.
In education, the contractor has been appointed by the University of St Andrews, via a competitive Public Contracts Scotland tender, to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment at Agnes Blackadder Hall. The scheme covers a full upgrade of 77 student bedrooms alongside ceiling replacements.
Commercially, WMR has secured multiple city-centre projects. These include strategic upgrades at 48 St Vincent Street and a modernisation programme at a prominent hospitality venue on the same thoroughfare. The company will also return to 145 St Vincent Street, where it previously earned a Finishing & Interiors sector Silver Award, to commence further refurbishment works. In addition, refurbishment has begun on the third floor of The Culzean Building on Renfield Street, continuing the firm's momentum in prominent office assets. In the leisure and community sphere, WMR will refurbish Dalserf Bowling Club in Ashgill following fire damage late last year.
The business is also broadening its footprint in high-end residential. A series of private commissions across Fife and Stirlingshire includes a bespoke 3,700 sq ft home in the village of Buchlyvie, now entering its final stages. The contemporary design incorporates sustainable features such as integrated solar roofing, demonstrating the technical strength of WMR's site and commercial teams and their network of trusted subcontractors in delivering premium finishes.
Reinforcing its commitment to social impact, WMR continues to support two Scottish charities with estate improvements: specialised works for Rookie Rockstars, which helps build confidence in young people, and facility enhancements at Robin House, part of the Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) network. Both projects are aimed at creating high-quality environments with lasting community benefit.
"Securing these contracts across such a diverse range of sectors is a testament to our team's technical capability. We are particularly pleased to strengthen our relationship with institutional clients like the University of St Andrews, while continuing to revitalise iconic commercial, domestic, and charitable assets across Scotland." — Andrew McGowan, Managing Director, WMR Contractors
