Network Rail is set to invest nearly £5 million in platform upgrades at Alexandra Parade and Hillington West stations in Glasgow.
Work at Alexandra Parade station will begin in January 2025 and involve the demolition and rebuild of platform 1, as well as the installation of new lighting and CCTV. Platform 1 will be closed from 18 January to 4 May 2025, with passengers advised to use nearby Duke Street station during this time.
The £2.9 million project at Hillington West station will take place in two 13-week phases, starting in February 2025. Both platforms will be upgraded to improve drainage and underfoot conditions. During the closures, passengers can use Hillington East station.
Alan Ross, Network Rail Scotland’s director of engineering and asset management, said: "The works at Alexandra Parade and Hillington West are part of our wider maintenance strategy for Scotland’s stations and will help us to run a safe and reliable railway for our customers for years to come.
"We understand the inconvenience the work may cause for some passengers and our lineside neighbours and we appreciate their patience and understanding while we deliver these vital improvements."
Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: "We thank customers for their patience while this improvement work is carried out. Once complete, these station upgrades will improve safety, and the overall customer experience, at Alexandra Parade and Hillington West.
"We understand that changing travel plans to travel from nearby stations can be inconvenient, but we’re confident that these changes will deliver long-term benefits for customers."
