Road resurfacing work is to commence on the A82 from Kenmore Wood to north of Ardlui on Sunday, 10 OCtober.

The £470,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see over 2km of the A82 adjacent to Loch Lomond resurfaced, creating a safer and smoother journey for road users.

Works are expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions, taking place between 8pm and 6am each night. No works are planned for Friday or Saturday nights.

To help ensure the project can take place safely at each location, a series of restrictions will be implemented but access for emergency services will be maintained at all times. The schedule of work is as follows:

• A82 Kenmore Wood – Sunday 10 October to Wednesday 13 October (four nights)

• A road closure will be in place between Tarbet and Crainlarich during overnight working hours. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A83, A819 and A85

• A83 Ardlui Station – Thursday 14 October to Sunday 17 October (two nights, excluding Friday and Saturday)

• A82 North of Ardlui (Phase one) – Monday 18 October to Wednesday 20 October (three nights)

• A82 North of Ardlui (Phase two) – Thursday 21 October to Tuesday 26 October (four nights, excluding Friday and Saturday)

• A 10mph convoy system will be in place during overnight working hours

The A82 will remain open during the daytime to keep disruption to a minimum, with a temporary 30mph speed limit remaining in place where appropriate, as road users will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans and to share information about the project in advance.

"The traffic management proposed, involving road closures or the use of a convoy system, is essential to the safety of roadworkers and motorists given the narrow road widths present at these locations. We've taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the required work overnight.
