South Lanarkshire Council are seeking the views of local residents on the proposed regeneration plans for Hamilton Town Centre.
The draft Hamilton Town Centre Strategy and Action Plan is now available online with a seven-week consultation period getting underway from today (Friday 27 April - Friday 15 June).
Councillor John Ross, the Leader of South Lanarkshire Council, said: "The strategy and action plan has been designed to help improve the town centre. It has been arranged in three main headings – potential development opportunities, car parking, transportation and access, and events promotion and initiatives.
"There are significant opportunities within each of these three areas but we really want to hear from people who are using the town centre. I would ask everyone who uses the town centre to take part – it's extremely important that we hear from as many people as possible."
A consultation event will also take place in the Regent Shopping Centre in the town centre on Monday 30 April and Tuesday, 1 May from 10am until 4pm each day.
Council representatives will be on hand to answer any questions about the proposals and to gather feedback.
The model being used for Hamilton will also be adapted and used for other town centres in South Lanarkshire.
Councillor Ross added: "We will look to use this model as a basis for other town centres moving forward, in particular Blantyre, Cambuslang and Larkhall."
