CWA To Start £600,000 Water Mains Upgrade In Bilston

Construction News Image
A joint venture (JV) between Morrison Utility Services and AECOM is to begin work on a £600,000 water mains network upgrade project in Bilston, Midlothian.

The Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) will start carrying out a rolling programme of works to the network from 06 November. The project will take around six months to complete.

Temporary traffic lights will be set up to allow the work to take place. From early December, a road closure will be in place for around four weeks in total, at the access road to Easter Bush Campus from the junction of Seafield Moor Road to Midlothian Innovation Centre. Diversions will be in place.

Scott Fraser, Corporate Affairs Manager from Scottish Water, said: "All road closures and traffic management is carried out in full consultation with Midlothian Council and put in place to ensure the health and safety of workers and the public.

"In order to ensure customers can celebrate the Christmas and New Year period without any works in place CWA will be working on the site up until the 22nd December.

"The site will then be cleared and temporarily reinstated until after the New Year when the project will begin again until completion.

"We want to thank customers in advance for their patience as this essential upgrade to the water network takes place."
