Works to upgrade existing roads within Gartcosh Business Park, to connect the new link road to Junction 2A of the M73 have recently been completed.

The scheme also forms a key part of the Gartcosh/Glenboig Community Growth Area (CGA), which will make land and infrastructure available for up to 3,030 new houses over the next 20 years and attract new investment to Gartcosh Business Park and other locations.

Cllr Allan Graham said: "The link road will open up a new long-term future for the communities of Gartcosh and Glenboig.

"While there is huge demand for new homes in the area and interest from developers, without co-ordinated infrastructure in place, plans have stalled.

"The link road is key to improving transport links between Glenboig and the motorway network, Gartcosh railway station and the business park as well as increasing employment opportunities and reducing barriers for commercial investment."
