Multi-Million Regeneration Project For Home Scotland

Home Scotland is to unveil plans for Phase 3 of its regeneration project of Dundee's Mill O'Mains estate.

The affordable housing provider is working alongside Dundee City Council to transform the area and provide modern, energy efficient homes for its residents.

The latest phase will see Home Scotland invest £9m to construct 70 homes in the Lewis Terrace, Harris Terrace, Lismore Terrace and Foula Place areas.

Home Scotland has worked with contractor ISG on both Phase 1 and Phase 2.

The regeneration of Mill O'Mains is taking place in four phases and could see as many as 308 new high-quality, energy efficient homes built.

The homes being built in Phase 3 will be available for social rent and mid market rent. They will also be equipped with solar panels and passive ventilation systems.

David Zwirlein from Home Scotland said: "The work we've done so far regenerating Mill O'Mains has made a tremendous difference to the community and especially to the lives of the families who are living in modern homes which were completed during Phase 1.

"We're really beginning to see how this estate will look once the transformation is complete and how vibrant the community and the area will be. This drop in session will give people a chance to see the latest proposals of this ongoing regeneration.

"Building work on Phase 2 of the development is starting on Monday (August 5) and will see another 70 homes built as part of an £8.5m investment. We're keen to hear from local people who will be affected by the work in Phase 3 and those who will live in the new homes on what they'd like to see.

"We're building these homes for the community and it's important to us that as many people as possible come along and let us know what they think about our proposals."

John Alexander Convener of Dundee City Council's Housing Committee added: "The regeneration of Mill O'Mains has been integral to creating a vibrant and popular community for residents.

"The area has been transformed and now contains housing that is fit for the ambitions of residents and fit for the 21st century. The quality of the houses that have been built meet the highest standards and have given tenants energy efficient and secure homes that they can be proud of."

Work on Phase 3 is expected to begin next year.

Home Scotland will be holding a drop-in event where people can view plans and ask questions or make suggestions on the development.

The event will take place at the Sheltered Lounge, Foula Terrace, on Monday 12 August between 3pm and 6pm.
