Primary school pupils in Garscadden are able to embrace the latest technology thanks to a special gift from an integrated services provider.
The pupils of Garscadden Primary School were given a huge surprise upon returning from their October school holidays with the discovery of a brand new ICT suite from Connaught Partnerships Ltd.
Staff and volunteers from the company enlisted the help of its sub-contractors and suppliers to help with re-wiring, painting and decorating, plastering, and fitting out the suite ready for the children’s return.
The children will now, for the first time, be able to take full advantage of 16 brand new computers housed in a custom-built ICT suite which will cater for classes of up to 32 pupils at a time.
Maxi Blair, Site Manager from Connaught Partnerships Ltd, explains how the project came about: "We're working in Knightswood at the moment completing improvements to Glasgow Housing Association tenants' homes and were approached by the local housing organisation to see if we could help with the local primary school’s dilemma.
"After a week of hard graft from the Connaught team and the generosity of our sub-contractors including Prime Business Services, we’re delighted we’ve managed to deliver this fantastic facility for the children of Garscadden primary."
The headteacher of Garscadden primary school, Celine McKinlay, said: "We are ecstatic by this magnificent gift for the children of Garscadden Primary School. The children's confidence in ICT skills will increase as will their knowledge and understanding as they learn together within this hand-crafted ICT suite.
"We are very fortunate to have these good people give so generously of their time and expertise. They have given a lasting legacy to the children and their future. The ICT suite will also provide us with the opportunity to involve parents in their children's learning."
Connaught is currently delivering a major kitchen and bathroom investment programme for Glasgow Housing Association in Knightswood and the west of the city.
