Plans for a flood defence scheme in Kirkwall are to go on public display.
The exhibition, which will be held next month, will provide the local community with an opportunity to view and comment on the proposals.
The exhibition will take place at Kirkwall Town Hall on 3 and 4 February, from 10am until 4pm.
The plans for the Kirkwall harbour area could see new walls constructed on the harbour front, from the Ayre Road car park to Shore Street, providing additional protection from potential tidal flooding. A second phase would see improvements carried out to the existing sea walls on Ayre Road.
Gavin Barr, Executive Director of Orkney Islands Council's Development and Infrastructure Services, is quoted as saying: "This exhibition will allow the public and other interested groups to view the proposals and feedback on them prior to the formal planning application.
"It should be noted that this isn't a required step in the planning process. We're mindful though that this is a key area of the town and that the public will be keen to see and comment on the proposals, so we have organised this event. The officers behind the scheme will be on hand to talk through the proposals."
