Views Sought On Saughton Park's Future

Edinburgh Council has said it is looking to hear from the public regarding their thoughts on the future of Saughton Park.

The park is about to undergo a significant restoration project.

In order to help shape the future use of the facility, an interactive session will be held today (Wednesday 17 September) to allow people to contribute their ideas and thoughts on the proposals.

Rachel Hunter, a Heritage Interpretation Consultant, will run the session at Saughton Park Winter Garden from 6pm. Participants will have the opportunity to shape the design plan for £5.3m redevelopment project.

The park's future will also be influenced by a Visitor Satisfaction Survey, which closes at the end of this month. The feedback received from the survey will help inform the project team on who uses the park and how they use it.

Commenting on the scheme, Councillor Lesley Hinds, Environment Convener, said: "It is very important that we involve the community in shaping the future of Saughton Park, as the project aims to provide a high-quality facility for the people of Edinburgh.

"This space boasts an incredible wealth of history and deserves recognition, so we are delighted to have appointed such a well-experienced design team to help create a vision for its restoration."

The online Visitor Satisfaction Survey can be found here.
