Aberdeen City Council is presenting the former Summerhill Academy campus to the market.

The 3.25 hectare site, which has been declared surplus to the council's requirements, is being marketed as a prime development site which offers an excellent redevelopment opportunity.

The council has appointed the Aberdeen office of Chartered Surveyors Graham and Sibbald as sole agent to handle the sale.

envisage the site, given its location and size, will be of significant interest to supermarket operators.

"There have already been a number of enquiries received and we expect there to be competition for the site. A closing date for the receipt of offers has been set for Thursday, 28 April."

Gordon McIntosh, the council's director of Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure, said: "This site is surplus to the council's requirements and we are trying to realise the most appropriate future use of it and to achieve best value for the site."

Education, Culture and Sports managers are working with staff in the community centre to find a suitable alternative location and they will also need to work with the individuals and groups who use the community centre at Summerhill.
