Prestonpans sports pavilion is to be completely refurbished
A £357,000 contract to refurbish the Polwarth Park sports pavilion in Prestonpans was approved at East Lothian Council's cabinet meeting on Tueesday.
The pavilion provides changing facilities including showers for home and away teams, officials changing facilities and a general purpose room. The pavilion is used by a variety of amateur and youth football teams and the Preston Village Cricket Club.
Community Wellbeing spokesperson, Cllr Paul McLennan, said: "The council recognises the importance of sport and recreational opportunities for local communities and we are committed to providing facilities to support local teams.
"Today's announcement is in addition to the £2.5m contract agreed last autumn to provide 5 new sports pavilions across the county which will offer a range of modern changing and social facilities for community and sports groups."
Ian Patterson, Secretary of Preston Village Cricket Club, said:"The Cricket Club welcomes this refurbishment programme for the pavilion and the council's ongoing commitment to supporting the sport of cricket in East Lothian."
