The National Specialist Contractors' Council (NSCC) has announced that Construct Concrete Structures Group joined NSCC on 1 March 2010.
It represents 33 specialist contractors with a combined turnover of £1.2 billion in the in-situ concrete frame sector and works with clients, designers and others to maximise the benefits of in-situ concrete frames.
It has led the way in raising standards in the sector with the introduction of SpeCC, a registration scheme for specialist concrete contractors which satisfies the minimum standard in a range of
areas including health and safety, technical and training.
NSCC is committed to reducing the burden of pre-qualification and is working with the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Forum to promote mutual recognition amongst industry accreditation schemes.
The addition of Construct brings the number of organisations under the NSCC umbrella to 31 representing over 7,000 businesses engaged in the construction of the built environment in both the commercial and domestic sectors.
NSCC President Hamish MacGregor welcomed Construct into NSCC stating:
"Construct represents a significant part of the specialist contracting supply chain. By joining NSCC, it has added its considerable weight to our collective voice on key issues such as payment, pre-qualification and training."
Neil Mitchell, Construct Chairman, responded: "Construct recognises the value of Specialist Contractors across all sectors working together and has joined NSCC with a view to changing our industry for the better."
