Squirrel Bridge To Be Built Over New Aberdeen Bypass

A 375ft wildlife overbridge is to be built to allow red squirrels to safely scamper above a road.

The £100,000 Kingcausie Wildlife Overbridge will span a section of the new Aberdeen bypass, near the ancient Cleanill Wood.

There are currently around 120,000 red squirrels left Scotland it is hoped the bridge will help stop numbers dwindling further.

Environment minister Mike Russell has approved the bridge building as part of the £390m road scheme.
