Grove Academy pupils in Dundee should be enjoying their fully completed school before Christmas.

A report outlining progress on Dundee City Council's £90 million PPP programme will show how seven schools out of eight have already been completed and occupied.

The last phase of the Grove Academy replacement is expected to be open for pupils in December. It follows the completion of the first part of the new building, which has been in use since August 2008.

On Monday, the council's education committee will hear that demolition of the former Fintry Primary building means that the construction of play areas and landscaping are nearly complete at the new facility.

In total, six primary and two secondary schools are included in the PPP programme.

Recently, St Paul's RC Academy was officially opened and the building has also received a commendation from the Dundee Civic Trust.

Dundee City Council education convener Cllr Liz Fordyce said: "I am pleased to see that Grove Academy will be finished this year.

"I have been impressed by the quality of the new schools and the way these new environments are assisting in our pupils' learning."
