The Northern Constabulary has confirmed the identity of the contractor who died as a result of an industrial accident at Causewaymire Wind Farm in Spittal, near Thurso.

Colin Sinclair (27) of Calder Drive, Thurso was carrying out maintenance work on a turbine at the wind farm.

The joint investigation between the Health and Safety Executive and Northern Constabulary into the circumstances is ongoing at present and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The family have asked that their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time.

A spokeswoman for Npower Renewables said their thoughts were with Mr Sinclair's family.

"The cause of the incident is being investigated by RWE Npower Renewables and we will be fully co-operating with the Health and Safety Executive," she added.

The wind farm's 21 turbines generate enough energy for 25,000 homes.
